Looking for a vegan chef (or a chef who can cook vegan food!)

Hi all,

I'm intending to open a vegan restaurant/cafe (relaxed restaurant, we'll call it) in York within the next 6 months and I'm looking for someone with more knowledge than me of vegan cooking (I have lots of ideas but would like someone with a bit more expertise to perfect the recipes and add some of his/her own if he/she would like)! Experience cooking in the catering industry would be preferable but I wouldn't say essential.

If anybody lives close by and/or is interested, please get in touch for a casual chat!

The premises I've put an offer in for is actually too small for me to be able to consider employing a chef, really, since I'd only be able to afford to give someone fewer than 15 hours a week, I'd say... To answer your question, though, I haven't had any other responses, no. If you're local and would be happy with only a few hours, then that could potentially be great! But I don't want to promise anyone a full-time job and then not be able to keep my promise. =/

Are you looking for a vegan chef position or were you just being nosy? =P Either way, we can keep in touch and I'll keep you updated on the situation! =)

No, I'm not local, though I am looking for work ;-)

I just thought I could help you find someone, perhaps you could do a quick job description and I'll see what I can do (Volentia has 46,000+ 'Likes' on Farcebook, with 15,000+ actual registered members worldwide - 9 in York, 35 in Yorkshire, etc.).

I can also help to publicise your place, once you get started (sounds like it's best to prepare food off-site and cook/re-heat on-site, plus there are plenty of yummy veg*n products to stock).

Check out Suma (I use them, and can give you a guest password to see prices, if you like) for ideas (everything is vegetarian, or better!), and contact Nishma at Shambhus for vegan cheesecake :-)
