Vegan Around the World Network

Inspiring vegan & eco travel and promoting & encouraging local vegan movements

As per the heading, I'm looking for some accomodation in London (from South West post codes through South around to close in East). I'm on way to Bulgaria this weekend for 6 weeks, & then off to Central/South America in June. I've tried vegcom & Manor House, but most are looking for longer term flatmates... understandable I suppose... but if anyone knows of any places it'd be muchly appreciated. I'd settle for vegetarian houses.

check out couch surfing first. Sometimes people do longer than a night at a time or if you dont mind travelling every couple of nights you could end up meeting loads of new people by going to lots of different couch surfers, if not then there are some quite cheap hostels, I reccommend, st christophers inn at london bridge, its cheap, friendly has attached bar, decent common room and a wee cinema out the back! and if your staying longer term they employ backpackers to man the desk so you can stay for free and still see all of london etc, worth looking into anyway. hope you get it sorted whatever way.

Also I travelled through central america last year with my wife and if I could just make a reccommendation or two: WWOOFing in Belize=amazing, Volcanos in Guatamala and ruins and the anthropology museum in Mexico. (if you want any details of any of these be happy to share!)

Thanks Dominic, I'm on CS now, but as I'll be working for the period I wouldn't feel right bumming couches during that time. I'm actually on some friends couch in London now but couldn't do it to them for a 3 month stretch when I get back from Sofia... that & it's a carnivor house.

Thanks for the suggestions in Central America, looking to go money free in the next 12 months too, so WHOOFing is definitely something I'm looking at. Did you do any surfing there, any suggestions there for free camps etc?

for free/cheap camping stay in Tulum a nice less touristy town 1hr south of Cancun, Mexico. about 20mins from the hectic party town of Playa del Carmen, it is one of the most beautiful beaches in the world, my wife and I were trapped there for a month when we had our passports stolen and had to wait for replacements, we spent christmas and newyear in hammocks on the beach and felt perfectly safe there, really highly reccommend it.

The WOOFing we experienced in Central America was often disjointed quality of ideals and facilities wise, we learned lots of 'how not to do things' but strongly reccommend utzkab belize. talk to Looey and say Dom and Faye reccommended it, its an amazing place in the middle of the jungle, cant rate it higher!

we met couch surfers whilst around there but didn't actually end up staying with anyone, mainly because neither my wife or me like planning ahead too far whilst travelling so we never knew where we were going to be when or have much computer access so always left it too late really.

good luck if you want anymore info feel free to ask!
