New Vegan Support

This group is for everyone and is a place where new vegans can come to find other vegans for support. For some, becoming vegan is easy; for others, it's not. A plant-based, cruelty-free diet is the way to go, so let's support each other.

Today I made some barbecued seitan for dinner.  I served it on whole wheat buns.  I made some maple coleslaw to go with it.  It was easy and satisfying after a draining day!

I am a new vegan (one month and counting) in Lexington, KY.  I feel all alone here (except for my daughter-in-law, who is also vegan).  Are there any vegans in the area?

If you've made it here, you're doing well. Keep exploring the internet vegan communities. Check out sites like http://www.theppk.com/ , and http://www.veganblogs.com/ and http://www.peta.org/ . Look up veganized recipes of your personal comfort food. Vegan mac & cheese did it for me, and I never looked back. Vegan living is so healthy and loving that you'll find the change exciting and invigorating!

Good luck!!!!

I understand the frustration.  Most of my family are vegetarians but my mil lives with us and she is very much a carnivore and very judgy about what she calls our 'lifestyle'.  My veganism seems to particularly tick her off.  Even my vegetarian friends have been making comments along the lines of - why, and when did this happen.  I'm not sure why veganism upsets people so much.  I know my best strategy is not to let myself fall into big traps like waiting too long between meals or not prepping my meals in advance.  That and coming on here...  Good luck to you.

Lately, I have been having a hard time with my veganism...when I first start about a year ago it wasnt soo bad but my past food habits have been coming back. Iam the ONLY vegan in my house so, it gets hard sometimes to remain firm in my beliefs. If anyone can give me some advice or comment on your own experiences as with being the only vegan in your family would be greatly appreciated. I love being a vegan but when you live with carnivores...things can be somewhat strenous
