Permalink Reply by Amber Griffin on January 19, 2012 at 4:42pm Hi there Mariel!
I've been a work to live kind of girl.. it' s the gypsy in me. I was a pretty dedicated Scuba Instructor for a few years, a potentially fine profession for an animal loving vegan. But that got to be too cold as I moved to a frigid Climate. I'm brave, but not that brave. For the last 7 years I've been in the most important profession out there. I am a dedicated Nanny ;) And by george, I sometimes sell a few vegan chocolate confections on the side!! I think the key to our success in the work world is good old fashioned Earth loving CREATIVITY!!!
Get an old popcorn machine and start marketing your own home roasted coffee beans....

It's a very satisfactory job for me. I really enjoy helping people getting healthier attitudes and in between i'm able to speak for the benefits of a vegan life style.

It's easier to tell people in interviews or something that its for environmental reasons and not go on about the animal rights parts, people aren't prepared to hear it, but if you mention environmental stuff they seem to consider it a little less aggressive and pretty much just give you a pat on the back and go all "hmmm, interesting". Then you can give them the whole rant once you got the job haha. =P
Before this I worked in supermarkets during college and straight after Uni, and that's kind of a tough job on the vegan front, I'm sure a lot of people on here have that job and know all about it. Can get especially hard when people keep coming in asking you where the legs of lamb or and stuff are, its pretty annoying. -_- And then seeing the walls of milk and meat etc all day long, gets pretty demoralising after a while, although it does toughen you up on the mental front pretty quickly.
On the other hand you might end up having some kind vegan field day and having to work the fruit & veg section.
p.s - I also cleaned toilets and a sports hall every day before University classes but we won't go into that ;P
Good luck on your hunt anyway!!
