We know that milk is extracted from cow's body but is it really against Veganism to consume dairy products? Its necessary to milk cows and everybody has been suckled by his mother so is it Nature's Law of consuming milk?

hi. i don't believe consuming milk is a law of nature.
because milk is for babies of cows. we are different species and are not babies, either.
and i've heard a horrible story that a lot of cows spend their lives only to produce milk,
which humans consume. they are made deliver babies to produce milk for humans.
that's too cruel.
we have different choices. we can survive without milk. there's no necessity for us to
do such cruel things to animals.
cowmilk is mothermilk.
the cow has to (!) get a baby to give milk.
the baby is taken away and is either being slaughterd or also becoming a milkcow.
also we are taking way too much milk (a baby would never be able to consum as much as we milk out).
about every 8 to 9 month the cow has to get pregnant again (otherwise she would stop giving milk), so she faces a lifetime of being pregnant, losing her baby, giving (way too much) milk to the people who took her baby (and also might have killed it..) before she is too exhausted to produce anymore and is taken to the butcher.
worth mentioning is also that a cow could live up to 20years - but after 4 to 5 years of permanent pregnancy and having to produce crazy amounts of milk they are burned out and either die of exhaustion, sicknes ore get laughterd because they aren't productive enough.

i also know a lot of informative sites that inform you about the health risks of consuming milk .. but they are all in german..
maybe somebody knows such a side in english?
If you consume animal milk, you're at most "lacto-vegetarian" - not vegan!
Vegans don't consume any animal products -that is what makes them vegans. End of story.

Here's something in english:

("meet your milk")

No mammal needs to be "milked" except when having a baby. If cows needed to be milked so they don't "burst", so why don't women "burst"? Or female whales, dogs, cats and so on? Think further. "Necessary milking" would be unnatural and not logical. So is that humans consume breastmilk of another species. As adults.

And don't forget what "cheese" is made of. Most cheese isn't even vegetarian, because it's made with lab-ferment (rennin), which is taken from the stomach of slaugthered baby-cows.

Think about that "producing" animal products causes enormous waste of land, plants and water -and what this means to this planet.
Dairy is cruel. Milk is indeed white blood.

I agree

Every animal has its milk :) consume dairy products means limiting the freedom of sentient beings :)
i agree with the posts below- and also after not having it for so long, i don't think i'd be able to consume dairy again...i just feel so much better without it and since i can get the necessary vitamins elsewhere, i'm anti-dairy for vegans...
i meant above :)

Cows milk is for baby cows! yes we consume milk when we are babies from human breast milk we don't get shoved under a cow and start sucking their udders! We do not consume milk past infancy (or shouldn't). Cow's milk is designed for baby cows not us. Not to mention if you don't agree with the veal industry or the meat industry , well the dairy industry and and those intdustires go hand in hand! Cow's are constantly inseminated (raped) to keep them pregnant and to keep them producing milk, their babies are taken away from them and are sold right into veal factories and so on and so forth.

A cow if left to live naturally will live around 30 years, whilst a dairy cow will only last around 5-7 years before their production slows down and they are sent to the slaughter. They are treated as commodities, as machines! it is not necessary for cows to be milked, it is necessary for their babies to drink their milk! The cows are forced to produce farrrrrrrrrr more milk than their babies would consume about 35-50 litres of milk per day some times more!—about ten times more milk than her calf would need. They suffer from mastisits and other debilitating diseases in their udders, they get infections and their udders are so enormous and painful they are sometimes dragging on the floor!

There is sooooooooooooooooo much information out there on the ethical reasons we shouldn't drink cows milk, the medical reasons, and just because it is just plain un-natural.

Ethical with also medical information:

These two videos are brilliant!

oh why did my links disappear?
Milk is acid forming to the body..plus..Isn't the definition of Vegan not using or consuming anything that is a byproduct of animals or animal itself..???? So by definiton any milk from an animal that humans consume would not be Vegan..I recommend nut milks or rice milk..Best milk in my opinion is almond milk since almonds are alkalizing to the body....

If we are intended to have milk, then why haven't all us that can not have it suffered from it? Lacotose makes some people, like me, violently ill...if I were to ever drink milk I would have to be rushed to the emergancy room. This includes all forms of it. I have tried to eat some to test but with the same results of getting violently ill. So, NO we don't need milk and as far as having to milk a cow? If you ever get a chance to go to a self sustaining farm do it... you will learn so much. I grew up on a farm and cows DON'T have to be milked! Calves HAVE to be fed until they are big enough to be weaned and eat grain or grass...
