Permalink Reply by Vera E Braswell on February 18, 2012 at 8:33pm I recently watched the movie "Forks over Knives" and it said although Americans consume a lot of dairy products, we also have a very high incident for osteoporosis. How the heck can that be? Obviously the dairy isn't helping us at all. Also, I think it is incredibly cruel to keep a cow hooked up to a machine milking it day and night. I don't think we need the milk, we just like drinking it. We love ice cream and cheese. But is our love for these things worth the suffering of the cow? Changes definitely need to be made. Our food system is entirely unethical.
Don't forget that there are also very tasty vegan options and alternatives to ice cream and cheese :)
I'd never suckle on a cow's udder or drink human breastmilk. So if the truth is grossing me out (and factory farming is dispiteous and badly harming planet earth), why the hell should I support this sh*t?
Before going vegan I've never eaten that good in my entire life! My health also benefits from those simple everyday-things like reading ingredient lists and caring for what I put in my mouth (although I still love unhealthy stuff like potato chips, cake and candy). ;)

Permalink Reply by Amber Griffin on March 31, 2012 at 12:33pm Cow's are kept pregnant to supply milk. Calves are taken from their Mother's immediately and traumatically. They are skinned for soft leather or crated for veal.
Do you really want to drink milk? It IS the perfect food.... for a calf.. until it's weaned.
I say avoid supporting the industry beyond the shadow of a doubt:)

Permalink Reply by Luciana Salles Soares on January 14, 2013 at 12:43am NEVER! We could never drink the milk of other mammals. We had our milk quote when we were babies, after this period of our life, only fruit juices or soy, oat milk, water...
The worse part of drinking milk is the partnership of this industry with the meat one. When a calf is born they have their faith decided by their sex: a female baby cow goes to the milk industry although she never drinks her mother´s milk... her mother´s milk goes to human consumers( so abnormal and inacceptable)...if the baby cow is a boy...he goes to the slaughter industry.
VEGANS NEVER DRINK MILK.
